CPRO Mooring H&L

CPRO Mooring H&L is a chafe protection sleeve made with different surface friction on the inside and the outside, using different materials and coatings. The low-friction inner layer allows the rope to adjust to the load, while the outer layer's higher coefficient of friction minimises movement against the contact surface.

The hook & loop closure means the sleeve is applied over the rope in the field — no re-splicing — and removed just as easily for replacement or rope inspection. The sleeve is lightweight and does not absorb water.

Key benefits

  • Low-friction inner layer lets the rope adjust to the load; high-friction outer face minimises movement on the contact surface
  • Excellent weight-to-durability ratio
  • High abrasion and cut resistance
  • Easy to install and remove for replacement or rope inspection
  • Does not absorb water

Construction and materials

The sleeve is woven as a herringbone narrow weave from two fibres: UHMWPE (the white yarn) and polyester (the black yarn). Coatings can be added to further increase performance and improve the friction coefficient.

Installation and fastening

Installed and removed in the field over the rope using the hook & loop closure — proven to work in the maritime environment. All ProChafe products can be supplied with fastening bands for positioning, connection and pulling.

Fastening options

ProChafe supplies standardised fastening-band configurations for positioning the sleeve and for connection and pulling — particularly useful for CPRO Mooring H&L and CPRO Mooring Tube.

  • Single fastening band for pulling
  • Fastening band with multiple eyes for connection and pulling
  • Two integrated fastening bands for connection and pulling
  • Three integrated fastening bands for connection and pulling
  • Integrated rope for permanently securing the jacket — tied off with seizing, whipping or knots

Typical applications

Designed for mooring lines and other synthetic ropes at the points where they bear on contact surfaces — in offshore operations, fisheries and aquaculture.
